Welcome to WebToolsHUB (the “site”, available at https://webtoolshub.org/). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information may be collected, how it is used and what choices you have.
The data controller for this site — meaning the party that determines why and how your personal data is processed — is:
- Name: Hongguang Tan
- Type: Individual publisher (natural person)
- Location: Lanzhou, Gansu, China
- Contact email: support@webtoolshub.org
For any question about this policy, the data we hold, or to exercise your rights, contact us at the address above. We respond within 3 business days.
Legal bases for processing
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): used for personalized advertising and any non-essential analytics cookies in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. You can withdraw consent at any time as described in section 9.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): used for security logging, keeping the service available, and understanding aggregate site usage so we can improve the tools. We do not use this basis for personalized advertising.
- Contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): not applicable, as the site requires no account and sells nothing to you.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have assessed that our interest — operating and improving a free tool site — does not override your rights, because we process no more than the minimum needed and never use the data to build profiles for advertising purposes beyond what consent covers.
Most tools, including image compression, PDF conversion, text comparison and games, run in your browser. Files and content you select are not sent to our servers for processing. After processing, content remains in device memory or local storage that you explicitly save.
- Access logs: the web server may record IP address, browser type, access time and page URL for security and operations.
- Analytics: services such as Microsoft Clarity may help us understand clicks, heatmaps and sessions so we can improve the site. These services may use cookies or similar technology. On tools where you select or preview your own files (image, PDF, OCR and archive tools), we enable a strict privacy mask so that heatmaps and input contents are not recorded.
- Advertising: the site may show third-party ads such as Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to personalize ads. See the Google Ads policy.
- Local storage: tools such as task lists, exchange-rate history and theme preferences may use localStorage; this data stays on your device.
The site may load these third-party resources:
- Google AdSense (advertising) — Google Privacy & Terms
- Google Funding Choices (consent management) — Google's certified CMP, loaded only to obtain and record your advertising consent choices. See Google Privacy Choices
- Microsoft Clarity (analytics) — Microsoft Privacy Statement
- Cloudflare (hosting and CDN) — our pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection metadata such as IP address and user agent as part of serving the site.
These services are governed by their own privacy policies. Review the providers' privacy notices for details. Some tools load open-source libraries from public CDNs (for example cdnjs); those requests disclose your IP address to the CDN and are not covered by this list.
The following features may make network requests:
- Web archive: attempts to fetch resources from the URL you enter and is subject to the target site’s CORS policy.
- M3U8 Player: requests the stream URL you provide during playback.
- RTMP/FLV Player: requests the HTTP-FLV or WebSocket-FLV URL you provide during playback.
- Currency Converter: currently uses built-in reference rates, not live bank rates. Any future API connection will be documented here.
We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may set cookies or read existing ones to personalize ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
Cookie and storage categories
Because the site requires no account, the table below covers every storage mechanism we or our partners use.
- Consent record — first-party
localStorage, keywth_ads_consent, valuegranted. Purpose: remember your advertising consent so we do not ask again. Retention: until you clear your browser storage. Type: strictly necessary once consent is given; not set before you consent. - Advertising cookies — set by Google, only after consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Names include
NID,ANID,IDE,DSIDand test cookies. Purpose: serve, measure and personalize ads, and limit repeated ad impressions. Retention: set by Google, typically up to 2 years; Google's advertising policies describe the details. You can opt out at Google Ads Settings. - Analytics cookies and local storage — set by Microsoft Clarity and by our own preference store (for example theme choice, dismissed banners, saved task lists). Purpose: understand aggregate usage so we can improve the tools. Retention: Clarity cookies typically up to 1 year; our own preference entries persist until you clear them. Heatmaps and input contents are suppressed on tools where you select or preview your own files.
- Functional local storage — first-party, set only by tools you use: saved to-do lists, whiteboard contents, game high scores (for example
2048BestScore,clickTestBestCPS), your favourite tools (peck.toolbox.favs), tool settings (imageWatermark.schemes.v1), and the dismissed state of the install prompt (peck.pwa.installDismissed). This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. Clearing it removes that tool's saved data permanently.
We do not set advertising cookies ourselves, and we do not read or write third-party cookies other than the consent record described above.
Do Not Sell or Share (California)
We do not sell your personal information. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or via aboutads.info. Google's certified CMP also presents a "Privacy choices" link in the page footer where California visitors can exercise their opt-out right.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we rely on consent to serve advertising. We use Google's certified consent management platform (CMP), which transmits your consent choices under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.2).
- Before you consent: the advertising script is not loaded at all, so Google cannot set advertising cookies on your device for our site.
- After you consent: the advertising script is loaded and may set cookies as described in section 7.
- Changing your mind: you can revisit the consent choice at any time through the "Privacy choices" link that Google's CMP displays in the footer, and withdraw or update consent.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because our tools run entirely in your browser and we do not require an account, we generally do not hold personal data that identifies you; for advertising-related data, please exercise your rights directly with Google via the links in section 7.
You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings. If you have questions about data handling, contact us using the method described on the About page.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site means you accept the revised policy.
